Proserva

(PRI #1 - Licensure via Portfolio)

Proserva is a software application created by and for a diverse team of educators who care about their students and about their craft. Proserva’s innovative Learning Management System accelerates the pathway to becoming a teacher and then strengthens the profession by providing real-time data and targeted development through a digital platform by which educators are able to share their practice with peers, enhance their instruction and create a learning environment where all students can reach their fullest potential.

The “licensure via portfolio” (LVP) component of Proserva not only accelerates the pathway to becoming a teacher, it provides a more affordable, seamless way for individuals of color to obtain their teaching license. At the time of the pilot being funded by this PRI, Proserva will be the only online platform for LVP, assisting individuals in obtaining their teaching license for thousands of dollars less than traditional pathways. Further, to bolster its efforts to reach the goal of adding at least 100 more licensed teachers of color by the fall of 2022, the State of Minnesota committed to the LVP component as its preferred method of obtaining licensure via portfolio.

Venn’s PRI will enable Proserva to run a pilot for the LVP component. The pilot will enable individuals of color who seek licensure to quickly and affordably gain their teaching licenses. Through the pilot, Minnesota will more quickly begin the hard work of increasing the number of teachers of color, thereby assisting with reducing the educational achievement gaps experienced by students of color in the state.
