Why did you decide to open a Venn Account?
We are big believers in philanthropy, but we also know from experience that when nonprofits rely only on contributions, they can struggle to sustain and scale their impacts. When we learned about Program-Related Investments (PRIs) we saw how they can help create earned revenue models for nonprofits. We started a Venn Account because it was an easy way to start using some of our charitable dollars to make PRIs in issue areas we care about.
What is one Venn PRI you are proud to have supported?
As a couple, we have always cared deeply about education, so we are proud to be anchor supporters of the Minnesota Afterschool Advance (MAA) pilot loan fund. If the MAA concept works, it has the potential to unlock up to $250 million per year in funding for low-income students in Minnesota to access afterschool enrichment programs, music lessons, and tutoring. It also can help create an earned revenue stream for quality educational enrichment programs that are starved for grant dollars.
