Emerge Enterprises
Workforce Development with Nielsen Metal Manufacturing
Emerge Enterprises operates three sustainable social enterprises that empower people facing employment barriers to re-enter the workforce and achieve lifelong success. The first is Second Chance Recycling, a mattress recycling enterprise that employs up to 100 participants and recycles 60,000 mattresses per year. The second is Furnish Office and Home, which sells used and new furnishings at a discount and employs 5 participants per year. Finally, Emerge recently acquired Nielsen Metal Manufacturing, which it plans to turn into a third social enterprise offering workforce development services in metal working.
The purpose of Venn’s PRI is to help Emerge transition the newly acquired Nielsen Metal Manufacturing from a $400,000 metalworking business into a sustainable $2 million social enterprise workforce development program offering training, internships, apprenticeships, and professional certifications to dozens of Emerge participants annually.
