Repowered

Repowered (formerly known as Tech Dump) is a nonprofit social enterprise based in Minnesota that improves people’s lives while also reducing electronics waste. Since its founding in 2011, the organization has advanced these two missions with one program model.

Repowered currently earns around $4 million in earned revenue each year, simultaneously creating environmental and social impacts worth multiples more. But it’s just getting started and has the opportunity to grow quickly with capital investment.

Venn’s PRI will provide below-market working capital to Repowered to help it expand its upstream sales and marketing efforts, thereby increasing the quantity of e-waste it processes and the number of formerly incarcerated individuals it is able to employ.

repowered Impacts

  • Increase opportunities for formerly incarcerated individuals and facilitate their re-entry into society through permanent employment with Repowered or through placement in other businesses;

  • Address tech waste by providing secure, reliable collection and disposal of corporate and consumer electronics; and

  • Take e-waste out of the waste stream by recycling and repurposing electronics that would otherwise go to landfills or developing countries.
